As the director of IT for The Graduate School of Northwestern, I am responsible for all aspects of technology to support administrative functions.  As the first holder of this position, I am responsible for continually evaluating the needs of the department and designing purchasing and installing systems to support those needs.  Currently we house 10 Windows Server 2003 servers supporting 50 local direct end users and 5000 current graduate students and 300 faculty.  The system supports the day to day needs of the office staff and a database driven web system for PhD seeking graduate students, faculty and staff.  This system supports many functions from recruiting to post graduation placement and administering special events.  Core student records are housed in a central Oracle system in which we interface via query tools in order to obtain data to meet our decision making needs.  I served as the primary design coordinator on a campus wide initiative to build a web based system to track fellowship applications, evaluate candidates, and determine award winners.  In addition I am the primary contact for all hardware and software purchasing and responsible for the overall IT budget with in the Graduate Sch
